About Jim

Jim Stanton, a member of the Walpole Zoning Board of Appeals, is an attorney at law practicing at the firm of Stanton and Flaherty; a firm Jim founded with his father and sister. Stanton and Flaherty is a general practice specializing in real estate, criminal and civil litigation, wills and estates and personal injury.

Jim Stanton began his legal career after graduating from Suffolk University School of Law and being admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth in 1995. He worked as a prosecutor for the Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service (now known as Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the Department of Homeland Security). It was after his service with the Federal Government that Jim was appointed an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County by then District Attorney Ralph C. Martin II.

Jim hails from Hyde Park, Boston where his mother, Jackie, was a well known entrepreneur who founded a neighborhood real estate business which she operated for more than three decades. Jim's father, Tom, a Marine Corps Veteran, came from Roxbury and attended Suffolk Law School at night to become a member of the bar. Jim has two younger siblings, sisters Maureen and Kathy.

Jim Stanton's wife, Judy (McLaughlin) Stanton, is a CPA who graduated from Boston College and has an MBA from Boston University. Mrs. Stanton is a homemaker, caring for the Stanton's three children; Rachel, a second grader, Cate a kindergartner; and two year old Thomas. Mrs. Stanton is originally from West Roxbury and her mother, sister and two brothers all reside in Walpole.

Jim is an avid athlete and has completed the Boston Marathon five times.
